Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The single showcases a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the initiative have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure commented. “We will pursue as much as possible. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”
The track is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
