Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his future following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the team's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

ā€œI am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant backing from the top,ā€ Slot stated.

ā€œIt would be great to turn it around and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.ā€

He added, ā€œI accept my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.ā€

Conversations with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

ā€œThere's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.ā€

He further stated, ā€œDuring our regular exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.ā€

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

ā€œI don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,ā€ Jones stated.

ā€œIt is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.ā€

He added, ā€œIt’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.ā€

ā€œIn a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period of this nature with results like these.ā€

Jones stated, ā€œHowever we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.ā€

ā€œWe will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the planet.ā€

ā€œAt this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.ā€
