The Details Known Regarding the Victims of the Bondi Terror Attack
At least 16 individuals were killed and over 40 were hurt when gunmen opened fire at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, a tragedy local police have labeled a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, officials have stated the number of fatalities remains at 16, which includes one of the suspected gunmen. Moreover, 42 people with injuries were admitted to medical facilities.
Those who died are yet to be officially identified, but police believe their ages span between 10 and 87 years old.

Originally from London clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Known as a father of five children, he served as the associate rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Family members and acquaintances described him as ālively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very kind and sociable person who was dedicated to assisting othersā.
āHow is it possible that a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?ā a family member said.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the arrival of their newest son just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She described the moments leading up to the shooting, saying they had been standing together when the gunfire began. āHe shielded me because he wished to be near me,ā she said.
The pair were both survivors of the Holocaust, having faced unspeakable terror in their youth. They had later relocated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
The French authorities have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is a casualty.
Publicly, the Foreign Minister said that France shared the grief of his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
āThis low act is a new, tragic manifestation of a revolting outpouring of hatred against Jews that we must eradicate,ā the statement continued.

A child who was taken to the Sydney Childrenās Hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, police have confirmed.

An Israeli citizen was also killed in the incident, according to reports referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people taken to hospitals, many remain under care, with a number in serious condition. Those hurt comprise two officers who responded to the attack.
A wounded man is a bystander who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the attackers. Described as a hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is recovering well in hospital.

One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Sources state he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
