A former US state department official, Dan Fried, observed, "The Russian leader is trying to derail the progress toward greater pressure on Russia." Fried continued, "The outcome will become clear on Friday, but the likelihood of achieving a truce by pushing Russia to engage sincerely appear to have decreased."

This development followed Trump had recently been strengthening his language toward Russia until the recent call with the Russian president, which the Kremlin described as "extremely frank and constructive."

European Energy Restrictions and Economic Impact

The European Union have set a requirement for fuel suppliers into the European Union to prove their products are not made from Russian oil, as stated in a official guideline released on recently. This step is included in the EU's forthcoming prohibition on imports of refined products processed from Russian crude, which is included in its latest sanctions package against Russia over its war in Ukraine.

Financial analysts noted that trading patterns appeared to be factoring in the possible reduction of India's imports of Russian crude. Some oil processors in India are preparing to reduce Russian oil imports, with expectations of a phased decrease, as reported by insiders knowledgeable about the situation.

"This is a favorable turn for the crude oil price as it would eliminate a big customer of Russian crude," said Tony Sycamore, noting that oil prices were stable on the trading day.

Security Developments and Infrastructure Attacks

A massive Moscow's unmanned aircraft and missile attack hit gas facilities in Ukraine's eastern regions on the same day, resulting in outages in eight areas. Authorities in Ukraine stated that Russia deployed hundreds of unmanned vehicles and dozens of missiles, along with aerial munitions.
