The visionary game developer, the mind behind the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has tragically died in a vehicle crash in Los Angeles, California aged 55.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.

The influential industry figure lost his life when his vehicle was involved in a crash and burst into flames on a motorway in LA on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.

"We are facing an unimaginable loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's family, his family, and everyone impacted by his creative vision," an official with Electronic Arts said.
